It’s Holy week.
It is also a time for reflection.

Holy Week in Christianity is the last week of Lent and the week before Easter. It includes the religious holidays of Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday), Good Friday, and Holy Saturday.

Abstinence from flesh is commanded for all the days.
So there are foods prepared by Filipinos during Holy week.

So for our Holy week, we had “Binignit” and “kutsinta” :)
Binignit is a vegetable soup in the Philippines. This dish is made up of slices of Saba banana, taro, sweet potato, and usually include landang (palm flour jelly balls), langka (jackfruit), anise and thickened with milled glutinous rice in cooking binignit. The vegetables along with pearl sago is cooked in a mixture of water, coconut milk and the local landang and sweetened by muscovado or brown sugar.

While kutsinta or brown rice cake is a type of “kakanin” that uses lye water as an ingredient. Kutsinta is somewhat sticky yet chewy at the same time and is best eaten with grated coconut on top.

That are some of the Filipino recipes. Yan ang Panlasang Pinoy! :)
